Fri 15/6, 16.00–23.00 Skautský institut na Staromáku, Praha / Scouting Institute, Old Town Square, Prague Nikola Šuhaj returns back home from the war to Ruthenia (the very western part of modern time Ukraine) which was just attached to the newly-established Czechoslovak Republic... After having been imprisoned for decades, Baran returns to his native village in eastern Turkey that he finds buried at the bottom of a modern dam. Whatever a curse or historical circumstances to be blamed, the two men become bandits. Hadi, hajdy, Turkish and Czech people! Join our “Bandit” Turkish-Czech Film Night. We will screen a famous Czech musical The Ballad for the Bandit (Balada pro banditu), alongside an award-winning Turkish movie picture The Bandit (Eşkıya). In both cases, you get what you like: adventurous action, uncompromising justice, rough nature, and incorruptible freedom. The Czech movie comes with Turkish subtitles and the Turkish movie with the Czech subtitles. Thus the audiences can blend. Isn’t it a nice opportunity to meet new people? There will be some Turkish food, we prepare a funny Turkish and Czech language lesson, and finally, we can also sing and play guitars.
