Guguk Kuşu (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, 1975, beş Oscar), Hair – Bırak Güneş İçeri Girsin (1979), Bir Zamanlar (Ragtime, 1981), Amadeus (1984, sekiz Oscar), Valmont (1989), Larry Flynt: Skandalın İsmi (The People vs Larry Flynt, 1996, Berlin Altın Ayı) ve Aydaki Adam (Man on the Moon, 1999) yönetmenin önemli eserleri arasında yer alır. Film festivali küratörü: Agata Trojak-Sarıbaş. Bu programın ilk gösterimi Pera Müzesi’nde gerçekleştirildi. 3. Vişegrad-Türk Kültür Festivali 3. A compilation of the festival’s previous themes – Body and Spirit and Tune In! Music and Cinema – the festival line-up journeys through captivating stories drawn from decades of films from the Visegrad region, and features master filmmakers as well as young, successful directors such as György Pálfi, Wojciech Marczewski, Juraj Jakubisko, Iveta Grófová, Gábor Koltay and Jacek Borcuch. The special section Tribute to Miloš Forman celebrates the early cinema of the most acknowledged Czech-American director, and his great contribution to the Czechoslovak New Wave. It showcases The Loves of a Blonde and The Firemen’s Ball, two Oscar nominated movies shot in his homeland during the 1960s, as well as Hair, the brilliant anti-war musical with an iconic soundtrack and choreography, produced later in the USA. Miloš Forman Miloš Forman (1932–2018), the most prominent, multi-awarded (33 Oscar nominations) and famous Czech-American film director, who recently passed away, was born in Čáslav, in the former Czechoslovakia. He graduated from FAMU, Prague’s Film Academy in 1955. He was one of the pioneers of the Czechoslovak New Wave, the year of his debut Black Peter (Černý Petr, 1963) sets the start of this movement in Czechoslovakia. His later productions Loves of a Blonde (Lásky jedné plavovlásky, 1965) and The Firemen’s Ball (Hoří, má panenko,1967), are characterized by ironic humour and the examination of working – class life. After The Firemen’s Ball was banned by the authorities in Czechoslovakia, Forman emigrated to the United States where he created numerous masterpieces and achieved the most significant honours, with works such as: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975, five Oscars), Hair (1979), Ragtime (1981), Amadeus (1984, eight Oscars), Valmont (1989), The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996, Golden Bear at Berlin), and Man on the Moon (1999). Hikaye, New York’a giden ve Vietnam savaşında orduya katılacak olan bir grup hippiyle arkadaşlık kuran Oklahomalı bir genç Claude Bukovsky’yi konu alır. Hair olağanüstü müziği ve şarkıları ile oyunun bir parçası olan Aquarius, Let the Sunshine in, Good Morning Starshine parçalarını içerir. Yapıt geniş kitlede uluslararası beğeni toplayarak iki Altın Küre ödülüne aday gösterilmiştir. The legendary adaptation of the tribal rock musical Hair, was Miloš Forman’s anti-war parable and embrace of the free spirit of the 60’s generation. The story follows Claude Bukovsky, a young man from Oklahoma, who travels to New York City and become friends with a group of hippies on his way to military service in the Vietnam War. Hair features outstanding music and famous songs from the original play including: Aquarius, Let the Sunshine In, and Good Morning Starshine, earned wide international acclaim and received two Golden Globe nominations. Cuma/Friday 8/6, 19:00 Koşun İtfaiyeciler / The Firemen’s Ball / Hoří, má panenko Yönetmen/Director: Miloš Forman; Oyuncular/Cast: Jan Vostrčil, Josef Šebánek, Josef Valnoha; Çekoslovakya/Czechoslovakia; 1967, 70’, Çekçe/Czech Trajikomedi türünde olan Koşun İtfaiyeciler günümüzde Çek Yeni Dalgası’nın başyapıtlarından biri olarak görülmektedir. The tragicomedy The Firemen’s Ball, is today regarded as a masterpiece of the Czechoslovak New Wave. At the time, however, the unforgiving portrayal of a rural firemen’s ball, was rejected both by the state film industry and foreign co-producer. The Firemen’s Ball was banned in Czechoslovakia after the Soviet invasion of 1968, and domestic audiences did not get the chance see the film until 1989, due to its remorseless satire of 1960s communist society. The passing of time has in fact revealed its timeless qualities, a mosaic of human embarrassment, set against a real backdrop with non-professional actors and with an outwardly spontaneous form. “What tea do you want? We’ve got some mint tea,” an old woman mutters to her apathetic husband, with whom she shares her cluttered home. She then goes up to the roof of her apartment block, from where she surveys the evening skyline over smog-veiled Budapest. And she jumps. We catch a fleeting glimpse of the other flats as the woman plunges past their windows – but we’ll be seeing them, long enough again, one after the other. While given clear distinctions, the stories present numerous parallels. This highly imaginative, fine-tuned and, at the same time, unassuming film comes up with provocative ideas, while nothing about it would superficially cause the least offence. Adapted from Woody Allen’s The Purple Rose of Cairo to Poland’s late 80’s, when the communist regime is coming to an end, this film tells the story of a provincial film critic and his struggle with a rebelling group of actors. During the screening of the film Daybreak in the “Liberty” cinema, the actors on screen stage a strike, abandon their roles, and begin to assert their freedom, making demands to the audience. When the censor is unable to control the situation, senior party officials are called in. This film is one of the most original Polish films of the decade; a poetic satire about the end of an oppressive era but also a universal tale about humanity. It was screened at Un Certain Regard section of the 1991 Cannes Film Festival. The narrative’s protagonist, young worker Andula, has a job at a big provincial shoe factory and a one night stand – the young pianist Milda Vašata – does not attempt to deceive her. Little does he expect, however, that the naive girl whom he has already forgotten will follow him to Prague with a large suitcase. Loves of a Blonde, a bitter tale of a fateful disillusionment earned Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2000 the UK film magazine Empire ranked it among the 100 greatest foreign language films ever. Cumartesi/Saturday 9/6, 20:30 Sevdiğim Her Şey / All That I Love / Wszystko, co kocham Yönetmen/Director: Jacek Borcuch; Oyuncular/Cast: Mateusz Kościukiewicz, Olga Frycz, Jakub Gierszał. All That I Love) koyarlar. This story of youth, romance, passion and protest is also a coming-of-age drama, set in Poland of the 1980s – a period of political turmoil of the communist system, the Solidarity movement and a martial law. Against this background four music-loving boys decide to set up a punk band, enthusiastically naming it ATIL (All That I Love), to express the things that matter to them most. Tension in the country grows. They don’t realize that future will bring many things they don’t love including censorship, corruption, problems with their family and the state... Ranked among one of the best Slovak films by Slovak and Czech film critics, Juraj Jakubisko’s long-repressed tale of love, death and insanity focuses on the unconventional relationship between two men and a Jewish orphan girl as they travail a war-torn landscape of bombed-out churches and wrecked homes. Shot immediately after the Soviet invasion of 1968, with references to key episodes in Slovak and contemporary history, and studded with cultural and historical references, Jakubisko’s exhilarating and free-wheeling film is by turns playful, surreal and, finally, increasingly nightmarish. Regarded by authorities as “decadent and harmful art”, the film was banned until the very end of the Communist regime in 1989. Forty-years on, it remains, both politically and formally, one of the most radical films of the Czechoslovak New Wave. Pazar/Sunday 10/6, 19:00 Küçük Liman / Little Harbour / Piata loď Yönetmen/Director: Iveta Grófová; Oyuncular/Cast: Vanessa Szamuhelová, Matúš Bačišin, Katarína Kamencová, Johanna Tesařová; Slovakya, Çekya/Slovakia, Czechia 2017, 85’, Slovakça/Slovak Gerçek olaylara dayanan bu filmde, masum bir oyun oynayan iki çocuğunun hayatlarının sonsuza dek değişmesinin hikayesi anlatılıyor. A story inspired by true events about two children whose innocent play will change their lives forever. Ten years-old and living with a mother who is not yet ready to be a Mum, Jarka is pushed by her desire to love and form a family to the point where she finds herself giving shelter to two abandoned twin babies. Received the Crystal Bear award for Best Film of Berlinale Generation. The Stephen the King is an iconic Hungarian rock-opera composed by Levente Szörényi and Lajos Bródy based on the life of Saint Stephen of Hungary. The show was first staged in 1983. The choice of a theme was both strongly connected with national history and with the Christian religion seemed rather daring in the Hungary of the early 1980s. The opera is based on actual historical events, yet treats them quite freely. In the late 10th century, Géza, ruling prince (fejedelem) of the pagan Magyar (Hungarian) people recognized that his people would not have a future if they did not found a Christian state. He invited Catholic missionaries to his lands and let his son Vajk be baptized István (Stephen) and brought up as a Catholic.
